Continuing Medical Education
Biomarker Testing & Next-Generation Sequencing in Oncology
A 35-slide CME deck on NGS, comprehensive genomic profiling, and payer alignment
This continuing-education program was built for the NGS Institute (NGSi) to help oncology stakeholders understand where next-generation sequencing (NGS) and comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) fit in modern cancer care: clinically, operationally, and from a payer perspective.
Learning objectives
The deck was structured around five objectives:
- Understand the NGSi mission.
- Understand the importance of NGS / CGP and biomarker testing.
- Review the recent research supporting NGS / CGP and biomarker testing.
- Identify best practices for NGS / CGP and biomarker testing.
- Understand the alignment of payer and administrative policies.
What it covered
Across 35 slides, the program moved from the institute’s mission and the science of genomic profiling, through the evidence base supporting biomarker-driven care, to practical best practices and the policy and reimbursement landscape that determines whether testing actually reaches patients.
The content was developed in collaboration with an expert executive committee spanning medical affairs, oncology practice, pathways consulting, and academic medicine, ensuring the clinical narrative was accurate, current, and credible to a specialist audience.
